About

"Josh Scheuerman is a multifaceted artist——painter, graphic designer, and photographer——whose work champions community and environmental activism. Working thoughtfully and collaboratively to carve a niche in the artistic landscape of Salt Lake City since 1999, he’s driven by a passion for art and the importance of storytelling. He’s traversed varied creative paths, tackling everything from journalism, publishing, and concert photography, to web design, editing, and ultimately, visual art and design.

In 2017, Josh presented a retrospective for Salt Lake Design Week entitled Act Like You Know What You Are Doing, showcasing his artistic evolution. His participation in the Urban Plein Air group exhibition at the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art in September 2018, curated by THE BLOCKS, further solidified his presence in the local arts scene. His murals span an extensive range of styles and messaging, establishing him as an artist with versatility and an intuitive grasp of the collaborative vision of each project. Notable works extend across a wide spectrum of clients, including INDUSTRY, WeWork, STRUCK, Cafe Rio, Stein-Eriksen Lodge, Laziz, POWDR CORP, The Canyons, RoHa Brewery, Brighton Ski Resort, and others, totaling more than 151 murals throughout the western United States.

Recent commissions include notable projects such as the 9-Line Bike Park for the Salt Lake City Arts Council and Salt Lake City Parks & Public Lands, as well as murals for the West Valley City Jordan Parkway Tunnel and South Salt Lake Muralfest, where he has also served as a juror for the past two years. Josh draws inspiration from the works of Edward Hopper, encapsulating a traditional Americana aesthetic, but he has also found strong influence in Renaissance art, particularly Caravaggio, and beyond. His work emphasizes the beauty of the natural world while advocating for responsible practices and underscoring the connection between creativity and conservation."
